Updating the old shelving in the library
Auckland Normal Intermediate’s shelving had seen better days. Many of the shelves were scratched, marked or damaged but the skeletons were still in great shape. We reused the rollaway posts and bracing while replacing all of the shelving for new dark, sleek looking components. The dark aesthetic makes a strong contrast from the rest of the library space and draws the eye when walking past the units.
Custom chalkboard panels in a steel frame have also been utilized to give the units some artistic expression. Once the students get their hands on the chalk it will result in a very colorful and unique art project for the school.
