Mobile shelving
For Space-Constrained,
High-Volume Environments
When a fixed shelving layout can't accommodate everything you need to store, a mobile shelving system is the right answer. Also known as compactus shelving, mobile shelving works by mounting standard shelving bays onto wheeled bases that travel along floor-fixed lipped channel tracks. This eliminates the need for a dedicated aisle between every bay, allowing you to store significantly more within the same floor footprint. The result is a practical, high-density storage system that doesn't require a building extension — just a smarter use of the space you already have.
Hydestor's mobile shelving is designed and manufactured in New Zealand specifically for New Zealand conditions. Our systems are available in three operating configurations — manual, mechanically assisted, and electronic (Logic Plus) — each suited to different load capacities, access frequencies, and user requirements. Because we manufacture locally, we can custom-size chassis and bay dimensions to fit rooms that imported mobile shelving systems won't accommodate. Every system is built to meet New Zealand's seismic requirements, with lipped channel tracks providing additional anti-topple protection during seismic events. Our mobile shelving is also fully compatible with Hydestor's Longspan Shelving System, making it equally effective for libraries, archives, museums, clinical stores, and industrial environments.
If you’re looking for shelving or storage solutions for your workplace, office, school, library, museum or any other environment, there are a few things to be aware of.
NZ-Engineered for NZ Conditions:
Our systems are designed and manufactured here specifically for New Zealand's seismic environment — not adapted from imported specifications after the fact.
Three Operating Configurations:
From small manual archives to large-scale electronic installations, we match the operating system to your load requirements, access frequency, and budget.
Custom Sizing as Standard:
As the manufacturer, we adjust chassis lengths and bay dimensions to fit non-standard rooms that off-the-shelf systems cannot accommodate.
Full Accessory Ecosystem:
From security doors to hanging rails and drawers, the same base system can be configured for a records archive, a clinical store, or a museum collection without compromise.
Direct Manufacturer Support:
You deal with our team from initial design through to installation, with ongoing access to replacement parts and technical support long after your project is completed.
